There's Springtime In Our Souls Today

Where, oh where does the time go? And how does it do so so quickly? It seems like it was just yesterday that we did our last posting. But it was February 3rd. It is often said that time passes quickly when you are having a good time. That must be so, because we certainly had a good time looking at Macy's daily posts during the 10-day countdown to Valentine's Day. Three cheers for Macy--Hip, hip Hurray! Hip, hip Hurray! Hip, hip Hurray! Macy, you are FANTASTIC!!!! You remind us of that song that starts out, "You light up my life . . ." What would our lives be without you? Pretty Boring!

We went to Provo on February 11th. Roger had a doctor appointment to have his physical progress evaluated again. It went pretty well as usual. We arrived about 20 minutes early and were able to go right in to the examination room. But, as usual, Roger had to be weighed. A new assistant that we hadn't seen before did the weighing and, again as usual, Roger began taking off his jacket and removing some things out of his pocket in order to get a more accurate reading. When she had determined the amount, she picked up the paperwork to write it down and at the same time started saying something like, "Well, it looks like you are at two hundred and sixty-. . ." A that time, Roger quickly interrupted her and said, "Wait a minute, that can't be right. I couldn't have gained 100 pounds in three months!" She quickly rechecked the scale. Sure enough, she had over-read the amount and it should have been 164 pounds. That sounded much better. In fact, that scale usually weighed him in above 170 pounds. That's with his clothes on, of course. When he steps out of the shower at home, he averages about 165-167. After an arterial blood gas test was performed, it was determined that his blood oxygen concentration is up from 89 to 92, which is great. However, his CO2 level has increased from 67 to 74, which isn't so good. Dr. Ross isn't too concerned with that figure, yet. He recommended that he be more consistent in taking a nap in the early afternoon each day. He's been a little lax in that recently. So, hopefully, getting more rest using his VPAP machine daily will help to bring that CO2 level down again. We hope so.

The weather is slowly improving, temperature wise. The snow melts more and more each day. We had a little problem with water seeping into the edge of the roof just over the bay window that we had installed three years ago. We had our insurance adjuster come and look at the damage and he determined it would take close to $900 to fix it less the $250 deductible. We received a check from them last week. Now, we need to get the ice melted along the top of the bay window so we can do the work of replacing dry wall and repainting, etc. Hopefully we can have it done before we go to Idaho in March when Michelle has her baby and we go up to spend about a week at their home in Star, Idaho. Gloria is really looking forward to that. She can hardly wait.

We're including some photos of one of Arland's daughters, Vicki, and her family. She is Diane's daughter and Diane was married to Arland when they lived in Lindon, Utah. At that time, Vicki and her sisters, Sheila, and Cindy were just little girls. There's been a lot of water flow under the proverbial bridge since then. Diane and the girls left Arland and moved to California. They divorced and Diane remarried. Vicki recently has indicated that she wants to get to know some of her long-lost aunts and uncles and cousins. And we want to get reacquainted with them as well. So, here's Vicki and her family:
