New Month, New Road!

On Friday morning, August 1st, I heard some sounds of heavy equipment out in front of our house a little after 7:00 a.m. I went to our front bedroom window and snapped the following photos with our digital camera:
As you can see, they methodically tore up a strip of asphalt about six feet wide from the edge of the cement gutter, loaded it onto a waiting dump truck via a conveyor belt, and then hauled it off to some site for probable recycling. By quitting time at 6:00 p.m., they had taken up all of the asphalt (about 6-8 inches deep) on Sagewood Drive from Cedar Hills Drive to Homestead Blvd. Monday they will begin the work of preparing Sagewood Drive for a new layer of asphalt. Whether they put a new dirt and gravel base down first and then a thinner layer of asphalt remains to be seen. The project is supposed to be all completed by Friday, August 8. We would like them to put speed bumps in the new surface to discourage drivers from driving so fast on it. It's fortunate that no accidents involving children playing or riding bikes has taken place. Or, the fact that people use the street for walking or jogging in the morning or in the evening and speeding cars through the curves just to our east is a potential pedestrian/car accident. Anyway, that's how we feel on the matter. End of subject.

Then last evening, around 9:00 p.m. we heard a knock on our back door. When we answered it, who was it standing there with smiles on their faces? It was James and Lauralyn. Because of the road construction, Gloria parked our van about half a block north on Cedar Avenue. So, our visitors didn't know if we were home or not, even though the lights were on. James, Stephanie, and all three of the children, had attended an evening picnic at Pioneer Park here in Price that had started at 6:00 p.m. as part of James' 20th Year High School Class Reunion. He ran into some of his school chums from "the good old days" and had an enjoyable time visiting and eating with them. Stephanie's family members are in Kaysville for the McBride Family Reunion today at Cherry Hills, which is up by Lagoon. So it was a quick trip down here to Price for the evening and then back home for the festivities up there. They visited with us for about an hour or so and then headed for home.

Today, it was my turn to cook breakfast. It was hash browns, bacon, and scrambled eggs. It's something I do everyone once in a while. Gloria seemed to enjoy it, plus it spared her of having to do it. She deserves a rest now and then, certainly more than she gets from me. But, I'm trying to do better. I even cooked burgers for lunch. But Gloria topped them off with home-made rootbeer floats. Yum, yum! At 2:30 p.m. she attended the baptism of one of the young boys in her Primary class. Then she came home and started canning some beans that she had picked from our garden before she left. She's presently working on what she does a lot of--quilting. I am constantly amazed at how hard she works. She's always busy doing something for someone. And I am so grateful that she is so willing to do so much for me. "I stand all amazed."

It's been a busy week. With Aubry's surgery, we've all had an opportunity to count our blessings and give thanks to Heavenly Father for his bounteous love and blessings. Our petitions through prayer and fasting have surely been answered and we have been greatly blessed.

We send greetings and best wishes to all. We love you all.

Hey Mom and Dad,
I hope they get the road put back together quickly so the dust won't become a big problem for ya'll. All seems good in Price. Let's hope it stays that way.
I went to the Doctor today. We are still go to go! In a matter of days we will have a new baby!
