Let's all sing a song today.
Make it happy and make it fun.
Then we'll go outside and run!

"That smell you let, it lingers yet.
It's not broken wind,
but smelly feet, I'll bet."
I just thought everyone might enjoy a little humor today by seeing a couple of photos that were taken when the Merrell's lived in the basement apartment in Provo (to provide a little nostalgia to what otherwise might be a typical, hum-drum day). Hopefully it will allow Gloria to lift her spirits and her physical strength after her "procedure" at Castleview Hospital here in Price yesterday, Monday, August 13th.
It's a subject that most people, in my humble opinion, do not like to talk or even think about. She fasted over the weekend for the six coal miners who are trapped in the Crandall Mine in Emery Canyon, as well as for their families and loved ones. That is on Saturday she fasted as much as she could because she started taking Milk of Magnesia and then some other stuff in preparation for a colonoscopy to be performed on Monday. She didn't go to church on Sunday because she needed to stay close to the restroom. We went to the hospital on Monday at 10:30 a.m. They didn't start the procedure until around 1:30 p.m. because of other people having the same thing done before her. Once the doctor got started, it actually only took about an hour. Then she spent until about 4:00 p.m. in recuperation and coming out of the sedation and anesthesia. She drank some cran-raspberry juice and ice water before leaving the hospital, but then it came up shortly after we were in the van on the way home. Luckily the nurse had given us a few barf bags before leaving for home. She slept after arriving home until after 6:00 o'clock. Anyway, the doctor said there was nothing in her colon to worry about, it was clean and normal. She does, however, have a few hemorroids. I asked him what needed to be done about them and I was told that we do not need to be concerned unless they start to give her problems. So, she and I are both relieved to know that she's good for another four for five years before having to have it checked again.
I've never had such a procedure because both of my doctors feel that it's more dangerous for me because of the sedation that accompanies it. They are affraid of the potential threat to my respiratory function problem. We've discussed some alternative tests that could be done but nothing definitive has been decided. We'll have to check on it again when I see Dr. Ross again at the end of this month.
Well, that was just a report on Gloria's status. She was somewhat tired this morning, but she did get up, take a shower, get dressed and go to work. If she starts to feel weak or phatigued then she may come home to rest. But, knowing her, she'll probably just work through it in spite of how she may feel. She's like that, as you all know. Your thoughts and prayers are and will continue to be appreciated.
I'll sign off until the next time.
Roger
