Spring Has Sprung And The Day Is Young
"Time flies on wings of lightening, we cannot call it back", so goes the song we often sing at church. But, oh how true it is. It doesn't seem possible that the month of March has passed so quickly. It seems like just yesterday that we were blessing Bradley, our newest grandson, in Kaysville. I checked the date on our last blog message and it reads, 'March 6, 2007'. Now there's only four more days left until April starts. Anyway. Greetings from Price and Castle Country.
Things are going rather well here for us, with the only exception being our disorganized kitchen. We decided to regrout the ceramic tile but ran into unforeseen problems. Some of the tile had unseen hairline cracks in them which, when the old grout was chipped out, the tile proceeded to break. That left us with the challenge of having to replace several of them. Therein lay the problem. We used two different colors of tile: stone white and a color named bone. We had kept nearly a full box of the original stone white color, but we came up short of having enough replacement tiles for the bone colored ones. We checked out various sources for possible replacement but to no avail. I ultimately located the original manufacturer, 'Fabricas Orion', in Monterrey, Mexico, on the Internet and found the tile I needed; so I thought. I telephoned them and spoke to a gentleman named Dante, who fortunately spoke English. I learned that it was an older style of tile but that there was a place in Kansas that had some in stock. However, the tile was a larger size than what we need. Anyway, I had him contact the company and have them ship us one box by UPS, thinking that we could cut the tile to fit the size we need. About a week later, maybe a little longer, we received this gigantic 50 pound box via UPS. To our frustration, the tiles were almost 2 inches wider, about half as thick, and slightly different in color. So, now we're back to square one again. I don't want to sound sacrilegious, but some words of a popular song of the 70's by Deonne Warwick are, "Say a little prayer for me." We're hoping that we'll soon be able to find a way of solving our dilemma. Wish us well.
This coming weekend will be General Conference. There was an offer made by a member of our bishopric last Sunday during Priesthood Meeting to give some tickets for the Saturday morning session to someone who would like to use them. He cautioned that those receiving the tickets would need to be sure and use them or else the number of tickets given to our stake or ward at the General Conference in October would be reduced by the number of tickets not used this weekend. I would have liked to attend and would, under different circumstances, have requested to use them. But, living as far away from SLC as we do and realizing the physical demands and logistics necessary to get there and get settled and then to get back home again would be a bit too taxing for me, physically. So, I opt to watch and enjoy the proceedings on the "tele." Maybe Melanie and family will be able to join us, if they can put up with our "disorganized situation."
Our family, which I guess means the "Malmstrom" family, has been asked to spearhead the planning and organizing of the Taylor Family Reunion this year. The date has been set for Saturday, July 15, 2007 at a park in the mouth of Spanish Fork Canyon. It's the same place that it was held last summer. We've been, or should I say "I've" been, putting it off too long now and it's time to get "down and dirty." I'm going to put together a flyer this week and get it distributed to all the relatives of the children of Allen Jr. and Lula May Jameson Taylor this week. So, if you're part of the "Fam", you may anticipate receiving something in the near future either by snail mail, by email, or from an "upline" relative. So, I better sign of and get going.
It's been fun blogging. If you have a response, or a comment, feel free to send us a message. Until the next time--Aufviedersein.
Love Roger (and Gloria in spirit)

Daddy I have been waiting for an update to your blog! I check it everyday. I love the picture of Mellie, you are so creative, and I am so sorry about your tile. What a pain in the neck. I wish I was there to help!
I see you figured out how to put a picture up. Looks good!
