"Makeovers" -- Some are E X T R E M E !!

One of Roger's "Bad Hair Days"

Macy and Michelle recently went to Betty's Salon while the Warners were in Houston for the weekend of May 19-20. They had their hair cut and styled by Betty herself. In Michelle's blog you can see the results of Betty's work. The "Makeover" wasn't in the 'extreme' category. As you can see from Roger's picture above, his beauty treatment is 'extreme, indeed.' The first picture shows him shortly after getting out of bed in the morning without his oxygen canula on. The picture below shows him with the canula and ready for the day.

Roger has to use a pressurized face mask over his nose and mouth while he sleeps. The mask is held on by a strap that fits over and around the top of his head. In these pictures, he did not use a "dew rag" that goes over the top of his head under the strap and we can see the result -- fly away hair. Plus, he wears a bandage over his nose to keep the mask from rubbing a sore on it. He wrote a poem to Michelle for her birthday about his morning "Makeover" that included the following lines.

"Getting out of bed each day, Roger's appearance is often bleak.
He has to sneak upon the mirror and build up courage to take a peek.
What he sees is often breathtaking, and for him that is not good.
But after a shower and a shave, things start to look the way they should."

Yes, miracles do still happen.

We're glad that Mary got her blog on line. It's neat to have you on board. It'll be fun keeping tabs with each other with pictures and news. Now we need to get Michelle and Melanie to get hooked up and then James and John. Then the whole cotton picking family will be able to communicate! Let's get it going!

Love, Mom and Dad
