How About A Little Nostalgia?

CINDY, JAMES, AND VICKI MALMSTROM
The picture above was taken in Provo, Utah when
James was about a year and a half. We had Cindy and
Vicki pictured in a previous posting when Cindy
was three and Vicki was five and in Kindergarten.
This is about that same time. They and their families
live in the San Francisco Area of California.

"1:00 O'CLOCK, 2:00 O'CLOCK, 3:00 O'CLOCK ROCK!"
How about this for a hoot? They had a 50's Day when
Roger was teaching at the Uintah Basin Area Vocational
Center in Roosevelt back in the 1970's. He actually won
a prize for being the most "cool" teacher in period dress
style. Do you think those are cigarettes in his shirt pocket?
The person next to him is Sherry Bolton, a female colleague
who also taught in the Business Education Department.

Roger was rummaging through some of the memorabilia in our closet that Gloria has collected and separated according to year. It includes pictures, letters, greeting cards, certificates, etc. that we have kept over our nearly 39 years of marriage. Think of that--39 years! That's pretty remarkable. And to think that we're both as smart, good-looking, and easy to get along with as we have ever been. It's just remarkable. Any way, Roger found a number of interesting things that he's going to include in our blog every now and then. So, keep yours eyes open--we think you just might get a chuckle or two out of them.

Well, our one-week street repaving has come and gone. Is it completed? Not hardly. They were excavating somewhat smaller vertical holes over gas and water lines leading into each of the homes on our side of the street yesterday. They used a large tanker-type truck with a giant vacuum hose about 9" in diameter and a high-pressure water hose to "drill" down through the ground. The high-pressure water would break up and soften the dirt while the vacuum would suck the dirty liquid up and into the storage tank on the truck. It was quite a sophisticated operation. It was somewhat noisy but quick and efficient. There were no picks or shovels used at all that were noticed. There were four holes drilled or excavated in front of our yard alone. Roger took his daily "siesta" (or at least he tried to with all the noisy racket of the equipment) while the two men were working in front of our yard. When he awoke, he noticed that a number of sections of about 24" to 30" in diameter black rubberized or plastic sewer pipes were stacked next to the gutter on the opposite side of the road. That means that they'll be digging up the road in order to install the sewer pipe. Whether it will be on our side of the street or on the other side, isn't known at this point in time. When it will all be finished and completed--who knows. We'll just have to keep you posted.
